LA SIESTA. EL NAP.

Me mandaron este estudio sobre la famosísima siesta. Existía la cosmogonía que decía que los que echaban siesta (a.k.a. los mexicanos) eramos unos huevones. Pues no es así, este artículo, muy bueno por cierto, dice por ejemplo, que una siesta de 60 minutos, incrementa nuestra concentración y estado de alerta hasta por 10 horas.

Otro estudio de Harvard, dice que una power nap de 45 minutos, mejora el aprendizaje y la memoria.

También nos dice, como y cuando es mejor tomar las siestas. Vale la pena leerlo. A dormir flojazos!!!

MALAS NOTICIAS (OLD BOY)

Bueno, estas semanas no han sido las mejores del año, la muerte de mouriño, el avionazo, crisis, etc. Pero la peor noticia de todas, nos la manda Groucho y está en la web de
Variety. El Sr. Spielbergo va a hacer un remake de la película Old Boy de la que tanto hemos comentado aqui. Vaya calamidad. Y lo peor de todo, el actor principal va a ser Will Smith.
Me pregunto si llevaran la película a las calles de Miami, con el tema Welcome to Miami de fondo.

PHOTOS THAT CHANGED THE WORLD

Les dejo aquí ésta gran recopilación de fotos. Se llama "Fotos que cambiaron al mundo". Muchas ya las conocen, algunas no. Denle click en cada foto y trae la explicación. Muy interesante. La mayoría de las fotos son brutales. Si no tienen estómago, mejor no las vean.

De entre todas, encontré aqui la maravillosa foto de Big Foot. También viene el clip de video de donde la sacaron. Dice que es muy debatida la veracidad del mismo, pero de todo lo que se ha encontrado, ésta puede ser la más real. Que gran historia la de Pie Grande.
Ojalá sea verdad.

Como decían en los X-Files: " I want to believe". (por cierto, alguien vió la última?? Creo que Molder, ya está mas bien mouldy (sp??)). Ah, y eso me recuerda: bajen rolas de los Mouldy Peaches, muy buenos!!

Vean la foto de las libanesas en su auto deportivo recorriendo y tomando fotos de la destrucción del sur de Líbano.

Casi todas son de World Press Photo. La agencia. Creo que por ahí aun sigue la exposición, puede ser en el Franz Meyer. Lo checo.

SEDARIS, VONNEGUT Y DEMAS

Tiene razón Iris, Sedaris es muy bueno. Creo que tiene un programa de radio genial, nunca lo he oído pero dicen...

Del único libro que leí de él, creo que se llama Naked, hay una parte increible. Resulta de que (como dicen en GDJ) que el Sedaris invita a su chava o esposa a comer a casa de la mamá (griega, de esas super tradicionalistas). La mamá es una hija de puta que nomás no quiere a la nuera. Total, se sientan todos a la mesa y la mamá callada y sin comer y creo que sin servirle a nadie. La nuera, que tampoco soportaba a la suegra, decide que eso es un insulto, toma sus cosas y se va. La abuela con una sonrisa dice en su incipiente ingés: " The Bitch is gone, now we can eat".

No pare de reir.

Habrá que leer el Cat´s Cradle de Vonnegut. El de Matadero 5, es genial, super raro, sobre el bombardeo de Dresden, por ahí hay algún post de el. Denle click en los tags de abajo.

Y si, por ahi pusimos la página de los grandes principios. No recuerdo el de Lolita, lo voy a buscar. Pero chéquense el de Moby Dick (si lo encuentro lo posteo).

Groucho, Catch 22 si está Mind Fucking. Estoy por acabarlo, gracias al TIVO no he leído ni madres. Ahora, como se está llenando el espacio, estoy mas preocupado por ver los programas que grabé que por cualquier otra cosa.
Pero si, Catch 22 está muy cabrón, tiene un sentido del humor muy distinto al normal.

Por cierto, creo que yo estoy perdiendo el mío, pq me quedé dormido en la película de los Coen, que la verdad no me gustó tanto. Tiene sus buenos chistes y el Brad Pitt está muy cagado, pero no se me hizo ni cerca de "The Big Lebowsky".

Estoy grabando "Satisfaction". Alguién ya la vio? dicen que está buena. También dicen que Mad Men está buenísima. Creo que es la que le gusta a IRis, no? de que va?

GONZO JOURNALISM

Como les decía en el post anterior, nunca he leído nada de Thompson. Pero aqui les dejo una definición de lo que es el Gonzo Journalism.

Por cierto, Thompson es el autor de Fear and Loathing in las Vegas. No he leído el libro, creo que lo voy a poner en mi lista.

También les dejo la definicón de la wiki.

Es interesante, pq propone todo lo que los demás periodistas tratan de no hacer. Es decir, ser completamente subjetivo en lugar de tratar de objetivizar los hechos. De hecho, incluye en ocasiones al narrador en la historia. Favorece el estilo sobre la veracidad de los hechos con tal de atrapar al lector. Me pregunto si el libro "A sangre fría" se puede considerar Gonzo. Se que es la primera Non Fiction Novel, eso si. Muy aterrador por cierto. La peli me parece muy, muy fiel al libro. Vale la pena si no se quieren aventar el tabicón.

The term "Gonzo Journalism" was coined by a friend of Thompson's, Bill Cardoso. It described an extremely subjective form of journalism where the journalist (and all his suspicions and opinions and prejudices) are an immediate part of the story. At its best, Thompson intended the writing to be in-the-moment, to set down on the page exactly what occurs, when it occurs. Needless to say, this is a difficult task, and his most famous work, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was considered by him to be "a failed expiriment in Gonzo Journalism," as it was actually written after-the-fact (see this for an interesting, if flawed—for reasons just explained—dissection of Thompson's gonzo stylings).

BOOKS THAT WILL INDUCE A MINDFUCK

A ver, se que este post va a ser muy largo, pero decidí copiarlo todo para que no tengan que dejar DB. Si quieren ver las referencias el link está en el título. Veo varios que no conozco y algunos que si. Los que valen la pena de los que conozco ahí les van:

Los dos de Bulgakov son buenísimos, el Fahrenheit de Bradbury es genial, la naranja mecánica wow! (en inglés exclusivamente, en ese libro el idioma es todo), Camus, Cazares, Castañeda, Caroll Lewis, Cortazar, Bioy (la invención de morel, no dejen de leerlo). HIstoria de dos ciudades de Dickens tiene la mejor primer página de todos los tiempos (junto con MOby Dick). Wow, son muchos, ya me los voy a saltar pq muchos son muy obvios. Pero por ahí si pueden lean el Wind-Up Bird Chronicle de Murakami (lean todos los de Murakami, menos el de Hard Boiled WOnderland que no me gusta nada). Ah, y me sorprende que no venga el de Wild Palms de Faulkner (dificil de conseguir, creo que se reedito con el título de "If I forget thee Jerusalem").

Ah, Fight Club, joya. Mejor que la peli que es muy buena. Y de Gogol, "La Nariz" que tampoco viene en esta lista. Y el Slaughterhouse Five de Vonnegut.

Y creo que por fin hoy veré la de los Coen. Creo que ya la van a quitar, así que apuraos.


ALguien ha leído a HUnter Thompson? Cual me recomiendan? Es el de Gonzo Journalism? NO? nunca he entendido bien que es eso. Si hay alguien que sepa, se los agradecería. Strika? Groucho? Iris?

NOTA DE PRENSA BIZARRA

A ver, alguien explíqueme ésta nota del Beacon JOurnal de Ohio.
Entro un guey a filmarlo, apuntandolo con una pistola? Luego le dio hongos a su perro y el perro murió?? Ehhhhhh? Que pedo con esto? Me encanta la frescura con la que el "man sitting at home" narra lo que estaba haciendo. Es maravilloso.

EL COLCHON DEL AMOR

Por fin!! Alguien realizó esta idea, que seguro muchos de nosotros habíamos ya pensado. No me lo imaginaba así, mi colchón, solo traía una especie de hoyo para el brazo. Pero esto es genial, para el pie, pierna, brazo, etc.
